Places of interest in Uniquely Singapore


Pahlawan Beach:
where a suspension bridge links beach-goers to the Southernmost Point of Continental Asia, or Asia's closest point to the Equator, boasts beach bars where you can chill out while staying in touch with the rest of the world through wireless internet access. Or check out the other interesting shops and eateries available at this stretch.

Sky tower:
Singapore's tallest observatory tower offers panoramic views at 131 metres above sea level across Singapore, Sentosa, Southern Islands, right up to neighboring countries like Malaysia and Indonesian. The Sky Tower can hold up to a capacity of 72 in its enclosed, air-conditioned cabin. Day or night, views from the tower promises to be a breathtaking one. Located adjacent to the Sentosa cable car station, the Sky Tower is a key point of interest and forms a distinctive landmark as it soars above the surrounding natural greenery.



Underwaterworld:
The Underwater World on Sentosa is home to more than 2,500 fishes from 250 different species. Start your tour with the Touch Pool for some 'hands on' experience with starfish, stingrays and if you dare, baby sharks. Then venture into the ocean depths via a moving travellator that ferries you through an 83-metre-long acrylic tunnel. All around you, sharks, stingrays, eels and schools of fish glide past – engrossed in their own world. If you don`t mind getting wet,interactive programmes such as 'Diving with the Sharks` are available.



Little India
:

At little India in Singapore,located at Serangoon road,your senses will definitely come alive once you enter this colourful ethnic area whereby you will not escape the smell of spices,curries and loud Bollywood film music.



Deepavali:
During Deepavali,the indian Festival of Lights will
transformed that place into a fairytale of gaily decorated and a brightly lit streets bustling with shoppers.






At little India
:
Do visit the Veeramakaliammam temple and Sri Srinivasa Perumal the glitzy temple of a 1000 lights.
At the cultural corner there will be a display of traditional Indian items and story signs bringing to life the rich symbolism and uses of the items.
For an excellent taste of south indian rice meal with your fingers-licking off a banana leaf,The Banana Leaf Apolo restaurant or Muthu`s Curry restaurant along Race Course road is the place.

Geylang Serai&Malay Village:

This ethnic area of the Malays brings back nostalgia. Right in its midst is the Malay Village, a showcase of traditional business and cultural activities which is a throwback to the good old kampong days. Its shops display a potpourri of items from handicrafts, rugs and fabrics to furniture and antiques.

Drop by the wet market (currently under renovation) and indulge in the smells of cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg. Skirting the market are shops where you can pick up CDs of both traditional and modern Malay "keroncong" music for memories of your holiday in Singapore.

Hari-Raya:

A month before the celebration of Hari-Raya,muslims in Singapore fast for a full month.Eating only when the sun sets and fasting only when the sun rises.A week before the celebration,Geylang road are usually decorated with bright lights making everyone in the festive mood.The most common food eaten on Hari-Raya is the `Satay and Lontong`.

The Cultural Museum also features a fascinating collection of artefacts like weaving tools, musical instruments and an extensive display of a traditional Malay wedding complete with hand-sewn garments, accessories, and a Bridal Chamber. Other attractions within the Malay Village include the Muslim Showcase, Hall of Fame and Geylang Serai Corner, all offering insight into the lives of Malays in Singapore.

The daily cultural performances at 6.30pm and 8pm are not to be missed. Catch them daily at the Seafood Restaurant and Restoran Temenggung.
